EPSRC & UK Semiconductor Centre Visit
We were delighted to welcome both EPSRC and the UK Semiconductor Centre to the Facility in Sheffield at the beginning of March.

Head of Engagement Nick Cook, Portfolio Manager Stephanie Russin and our EPSRC Project Officer Tabea Gerlach visited the Facility on the 5th March. Their visit included a tour of our cleanrooms and equipment, and strategic discussions were held on Quantum and AI, our semiconductor research, challenges and the future of the Facility. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss how we are contributing to the UK National Semiconductor, Quantum, and AI Strategies and how our world-class facilities are closely aligned with the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
Chief Operating Officer Raj Gawera, Interim Director of Skills and Workforce Alex Leadley and Communications Manager Mike Bishop, from the UK Semiconductor Centre visited the Facility on the 6th March. We have also shown them around our research cleanrooms, but also the Faculty of Engineering’s undergraduate teaching cleanroom, amongst other teaching laboratories. We had some productive discussions about the strengths and needs of the UK Semiconductor infrastructure, community, and workforce, and we look forward to working together to realise shared ambitions in this area.
