The National Epitaxy Facility is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as part of a network of National Research Centres.

The Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride at The University of Cambridge is a partner institution which offers specialist world-class capabilities in wide band gap nitrides. Additional growth capability in the surrounding environment includes MBE of nitrides, which is available in the Cavendish Laboratory, with a focus on growth of high density self-assembled nitride nanowires. Additional characterisation capability is available which supports the development of new GaN technologies.

Facilities offered by our partner Institution, University College London, include Group IV materials and world-class MBE capabilities. MBE is the ideal technology for the development of new materials and innovative structures. The Facility at UCL is able to supply a wide variety of Group-IV materials, alloy combinations and types of structures using a wide range of sources.

The School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield is respected internationally for its many important contributions in the field of electronic and electrical engineering. Our teaching is underpinned by research at the leading edge, with world-class laboratories available to undergraduates and postgraduates. The Department has been awarded an Athena Swan Bronze Award, for its support of representation of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics.
