GaN Marathon 2024 – 10th-12th June
Prof Rachel Oliver gave an invited talk on ‘Microscopy of cubic nitrides for LEDs’ at GaN Marathon 2024 in Verona, Italy.
QDotCom 2024 – 12th-14th June
Dr Elisa Sala gave a talk on ‘Growth and Characterization of InAs/InP Quantum Dots by Droplet Epitaxy in MOVPE at the Telecom C-band for Quantum Information Technologies’ at QDotCom 2024 in Wroclaw, Poland.
South Korea GEM insights
Prof Jon Heffernan attended the South Korea GEM insights meeting at ChipStart UK Showcase in London, to discuss the semiconductor insights from the recent Global Expert Mission to the Republic of Korea.

FAME – Second International Workshop on Fundamentals and Advances of MOVPE processes
Dr Elisa Sala attended the FAME MOVPE workshop in Eindhoven’s University of Technology, where she gave an invited talk on ‘Growth and Characterization of InAs/InP Quantum Dots by Droplet Epitaxy in MOVPE at the Telecom C-band for Quantum Information Technologies’.
Quantum Bridge: Bridging the UK and Japan in Semiconductor, Quantum, and Photonics Collaboration
Dr Edmund Clarke was on the committee for the Quantum Bridge: Japan-UK IOP Event in London. The event’s aim is to bridge the UK and Japan in Semiconductor, Quantum, and Photonics Collaboration and to unite the UK community, both existing collaborators and potential partners, in the quantum, semiconductors, and photonics fields.
NAMBE 2024
Dr Ian Farrer attended NAMBE 2024 in Boston, Massachusetts, including a Workshop on Epitaxial Growth of Infrared Materials. Ian’s abstract was titled ‘Site Controlled InAs/GaAs Quantum Dots for Photonic Integration’. The 38th North American Conference on Molecular Beam Epitaxy is a prominent international forum for reporting scientific and technological developments in MBE research.
International Nano-Optoelectronics Workshop 2024
Prof Huiyun Liu attended the International Nano-Optoelectronics Workshop in Shenzhen, China; a premier international forum for researchers and technology leaders in semiconductor nanostructures and nanomaterials, optoelectronics, and photonics.

Defects in Semiconductors – Gordon Research Conference
Prof Rachel Oliver gave an invited talk at the Gordon Research Conference on Defects in Semiconductors in Newry, Maine, USA on the ‘Extended Defects in Zincblende GaN’.
ICANS30
Prof Huiyun Liu attended the 30th International Conference on Amorphous and Nanoscale Semiconductors (ICANS) at the University of Manchester. ICANS conference have played a pivotal role in shaping the field of amorphous and nanocrystalline semiconductors.

Dr Edmund Clarke gave an invited talk at IOP Photon 2024 in Swansea, on ‘Molecular beam epitaxy growth of InAs/GaAs quantum dots for quantum optoelectronics’.
ICMBE 2024
Dr Ian Farrer and Dr Akshay Verma are currently at the ICMBE 2024 in Matsue, Japan to report new developments in MBE Research achieved at the Facility. Ian’s abstract is on ‘Site Controlled InAs/GaAs Quantum Dot Arrays for Photonic Integration’ and Akshay’s abstract is titled ‘Wafer Scale Ultra-low Density InAs Quantum Dots on GaAs(100)’.
