July 2022

EPSRC National Epitaxy Facility hosted UK Semiconductors 2022

We were delighted to host the UK Semiconductors 2022 conference in Sheffield on 6-7 July. It was first in-person event organised by the EPSRC National Epitaxy Facility since 2019 and we were thrilled to see over 250 delegates and exhibitors in attendance. There are many highlights to the two-day event, including excellent talks and international plenaries, two Innovation sessions exploring new opportunities in UV detectors and Gallium Oxide, and the Phil Buckle Research Communications Prize – congratulations to the winner Armin Barthel from the University of Cambridge and the runner-up Jonathan Hall from Lancaster University. Despite the pandemic, semiconductor research in the UK has never felt so healthy and we look forward to an even bigger and better conference in 2023!

We encourage you to have a look at the conference highlights, with the introduction from Prof Jon Heffernan, the Director of the Facility, in this short video.

Many excellent photographs by Laure Divisia, ADVA Photography, from the UKS22 are also available for you to view here (guest password: UKS22-!jul7, download PIN: 5049).
